Changes For 2013

It was just earlier this month that I wrote my plans for 2013, and already big changes are afoot!

It seems like just a few months ago I was moving in and having a housewarming party and enjoying my independence. Well, I am moving again! I will be spending the next year living with my mom and sister. My mom is going through a particularly unpleasant divorce, and she needs all the help and love and support she can get while she gets back on her feet. After 22 years of marriage, she and my step-dad are separating. I wish I could say I was sad about it, but in truth, it’s for the best. They are very different people and they value very different things. My main concern is just making sure my mom is happy. She is one of the kindest people I know; she is always doing for others, and rarely thinks of herself. For 2013, I want her to take some time to think of herself. Enjoy her home, her job, her friends, and her family,  and not worry about making others happy.

It’s a BIG change for me. I’ve gotten very accustomed to being on my own and having my own space. The boyfriend is here often, but it’s still my space and I can send him to his place if I want. Going back to sharing a space with others is going to be a big change, even if it is people I love. Plus, my mom isn’t a big fan of pets, and it’ll be an adjustment for her to get used to living with my cat.

Widget has a sharing problem – that’s HER chair and HER fish. We’re working on it……

But I have no doubt that this is a good thing. I enjoy being with my mom and sister and I know that we’ll have a great time. Plus, they love to cook, and  I love for other people to cook for me. A match made in heaven!!

I’ll go back to posting about fun fashion stuff as soon as I am moved and settled again. I am trying to avoid window shopping so  I won’t be tempted to buy anything. I refuse to bring one more thing into this apartment that I’ll have to pack!

Embrace the time with your family! Give the ladies my love and let me know if I can do anything to help. It’s a big transition, but considering you are only genetics, I know your mom is strong enough to take it on and come out on top. Love y’all!

Thank you friend! My mom is definitely one tough cookie. I know she’ll be okay with some love and care and mimosas :)

That is awesome news!  My daddy asked me to move in with him in February of last year because he never quite got over empty nest, and is really lonely.  I have been there for 11 months, and yes, Justin lives there too.  It’s a blessing to be able to do that for a parent.  You get more time with them, and your relationship means more.  It’s not always easy, but I suspect that your mom is a lot cleaner than my dad :)  After all the things my dad has done for me, it’s the very least that I can do.

Justin and I will be moving out soon and getting our new place.  My dad REALLY REALLY does not want us to rush.

I agree- it is a blessing! My mom has always been so selfless. She puts everyone before herself, and it’s nice to be able to do something for her, and put HER first for a change. I enjoy being with her and my sister and I know it’ll be a great experience for all of us. Thanks for sharing girl :)
