Five Questions…… (From Grechen’s Closet)

Last week, my friend and blogger bae Grechen did a cool post with five questions. She invited everyone to answer the questions themselves in the comments, but let’s be real. I have too many words and too many opinions and too many feelings about things to just write a comment. So I stole the 5 Questions and made it into a blog post!

What if you had to choose ONE brand (money no object) to buy clothes from, what would it be? What brand/designer do you think personifies you the best?
This one is a bit tricky because even if money were no object, I’m still limited to designers that do plus sizes. So, choosing from designers that currently have a plus size line, I would probably go with Eileen Fisher. Her pieces are so beautiful and classic and chic, not to mention extremely comfy. I’ve gotten a couple of pieces on sale, and they were amazing! Now, if I could choose any brands regardless of if they carry plus sizes, I would say Victoria Beckham. I just love her style – it’s strong, but feminine. Also she is crazy talented, and has a wicked sense of humor. Another strong possibility would be Lanvin. I swear, those clothes are like modern art for your body.

What’s one thing you’ve purged from your wardrobe you wish you had now?
Hmmm that’s a tough one. I usually get rid of things and feel no remorse; I’m pretty ruthless. But I wouldn’t mind having some of my Vans and Converse back. Sneakers with dresses are so popular right now, and I love wearing comfy and cute shoes. It bums me out that I have to buy all new ones.

What’s something you’re hanging on to, but sort of wish you had the courage to let go of?
I have a lot of dresses that don’t really suit my style or my body that I can’t bring myself to get rid of. They are super cute, but they just don’t speak to my style or help me look my very best. Some I’m holding onto for sentimental value. I wore it for a fun event, or I bought it at a happy time in my life. Others I’m holding onto because I spent good money on them and I don’t want to feel like I’m wasting it. But I’m purging my clothes right now (thanks to The KonMari Method!) and I think I’ll put those dresses to the side and see if my sister wants them. I bet she’ll look gorgeous in them!

If you had to choose 5-10 things from your wardrobe (including shoes & bags) to keep and you had to get rid of everything else, what would you keep?
I’m going to go from my regular wardrobe, not my workout wardrobe. Because I need all of my workout clothes!

Black Ava&Viv leggings
Ava&Viv tops in black, gray, and magenta (3)
Blue sugar skull print dress
White tulle skirt
Black crop top
Blue and gray striped bodycon skirt
Black dress with pockets and button detail
Black “BOSS” t-shirt

I know, I didn’t add shoes and bags. This is really hard! I’m on the hunt for a new bag, so there’s nothing I really want to keep. As for my shoes…. well…. I need them all. Like lip colors, you can never have too many.

What are you wearing RIGHT THIS SECOND?
It’s not very exciting because I just got back from working out, but here it is!

5 Questions Outfit

Tank Top – Lane Bryant (super old – similar) | Workout Capris – LIVI Active from Lane Bryant | Socks – Academy (similar – I have them in so many colors!) | Sports Bra – Old Navy (similar)

I mentioned on Instagram and Facebook recently that I had completed my first 4 weeks of Camp Gladiator and, to reward myself, I got some new workout clothes. I really can’t say enough awesome things about the LIVI Active pants at Lane Bryant. They are super comfortable, not too heavy, and they never fall down while I’m working out. I usually just wear a regular tank top or t-shirt; the fancy workout shirts always make me feel weird and suffocated.

  • This was fun to read! I might borrow it and answer these in a post too! The question about wearing one brand forever is really tricky. I’d probably pick Yours Clothing because there’s so much variety and most every style (dresses, pants, skirts, tops, shoes, etc.) fits my body well. But if we’re fantasizing, then right now I’d love to wear Dolce & Gabbana’s sequined and rose-printed collection. It’s so luxe, Baroque, and extravagant.
