Welcome to the beginning of the #TiltonTilDeath Wedding Prep series! Follow along as I get ready for my upcoming nuptials……. and all the craziness that entails!
About a month ago, I posted this on my Facebook page…. and got some interesting responses!
First of all, I LOVE that my friends think I am so lovely! Man, y’all are good for the ego. But worry not, I am not looking to do anything surgically to my face. See when I went to the Bridal Extravaganza, I noticed A TON of booths dedicated to getting your body “wedding dress ready.” There were body wraps, bridal boot camps, diet meal services, etc. First of all, I LOATHE the whole idea that your body needs to get whipped into shape for a wedding. Your body is fine as is. End of story. But what I didn’t see was any skincare booths. Now, my face is also going to be in all those pictures. And it will be smiling (and crying) and showing all my feelings on this very exciting day. Don’t I want my face to look its absolute best??
So I reached out to Dr. Rocco Piazza, founder and surgeon of The Piazza Center for Plastic Surgery and Advanced Skincare. Now, Rocco and I go way back – to high school actually! He and my sister were friends, which means we were friends. (What?? I didn’t like to let her have her own friends. I was a terrible younger sister.) I told him my idea; let’s do a blog series on getting my skin and face in tip-top shape for the wedding! He was totally on board, and put me in touch with Samantha, the Director of Skincare.
I met with Samantha and OMG she is the nicest person EVER! We talked about what is good for your skin, and what is not good for your skin. I really appreciated the incredibly holistic approach at the Piazza Center. They work really hard to educate their patients about good skincare from the inside out. Things like diet, exercise, certain medications, free radical exposure, and (of course) the sun can all effect your skin.
After going over my thoughts and my face, we decided on a regiment of treatment and products. I’ll be doing laser hair removal (because I am cursed with hair in all the wrong places), three treatments of microneedling (initiates the production of new collagen and elastic fibers to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, acne scarring, and sun damage), two HydraFacials, and introduce two new products into my routine. Pretty cool, huh??
My first treatment was great. The tech was super nice, they explained everything to me before it was done, and it was really quick. Now, everyone asks the same thing; DOES IT HURT??? I would say it’s uncomfortable; it feels like getting popped by a rubber band. But it’s not excruciating, and it’s a pretty quick process. Now, I have a few tattoos, so I might not be the best judge of pain. But I really didn’t find it even close to awful or unbearable. Let’s put it this way – it’s WAY better than waxing.
I’m getting ready for my second appointment later this week, and I’m already seeing a HUGE difference! My skin has stayed very smooth, and there has been little regrowth. Keep in mind that laser hair removal is not permanent. There will always be a bit of maintenance. But that might mean 1 treatment every 12-18 months. And the hair becomes so sparse, it’s barely noticeable.
I’m looking forward to sharing more of my journey to a photo ready wedding face! Many thanks to The Piazza Center for taking this journey with me! Be sure to check them out on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
Disclosure: The Piazza Center is providing discounted and free services for the duration of this series. All experiences, thoughts, and reviews are my own.
