So here’s the deal. One of my fabulous clients (shout out to Huntington Learning Center!) was one of the sponsors for the Lake Travis Education Foundation this year. So they got some seats at the gala…… and they totally invited me! Obviously, I said yes and was super honored and excited. But what the heck was I going to wear?? I needed to look classy and not show off too much skin; I was representing a client after all. BUT I still wanted to look like me. I bought a dress on eShakti and the fit was not right at all. Soooo that went back. Then I bought 4 dresses from Macy’s, and only one was okay. But it was just okay – not great, not amazing, but okay. I figured with shoes and jewelry, I could make it work.
Then, the day before the event, I get a Gwynnie Bee box with this INSANE dress. I had seen it on mah boo Authentically Emmy, and was like “I must try this dress!!” So I tried it on and it was perfection! So here’s how the fancy-making went down……
My friend Becky came over to do my hair and makeup. She asked what I wanted for my hair, and I jokingly said “give me a mohawk!” Well friends, she gave me the most classy/punk-rock/fauxhawk EVER! She pair it with a smoky eye and red lip. Here’s the finished product!
Side view so you can see my hair (and earrings) a bit more 🙂
I had a wonderful time at the event, and felt like a million bucks. The dress was comfortable and gorgeous and I got so many compliments. Gwynnie Bee has a way of coming through for me in a pinch, and this time was no exception. Thanks to Gwynnie Bee and Becky Joyce for helping me look my best!
If you’ve never heard of Gwynnie Bee, I totally recommend checking it out. A whole fabulous closet at your disposal for less than a dress per month! And yeah, they are a partner of mine, but all opinions are totes my own.
