Outfit Post – Gwynnie Bee Saved My Dad’s Funeral

Let me start by saying the title of this post is sort of a joke…… but not really. Let me explain.

Sadly, my step-dad passed away on Friday the 29th, the day after Thanksgiving. He had a massive heart attack and we are still sort of reeling from the shock of the sudden loss. It’s been a rough week.

Obviously, this means a funeral was planned. Family and friends from far and wide were coming to share their grief, and I knew it would be a tough but cathartic day. However the fashion blogger in me kept nagging at the back of my head, What are you going to wear????

Here’s the thing about funeral clothes; once you wear them to the funeral of a loved one, you never really want to wear them again. When my biological dad died 4 years ago, I wore a skirt and top that has never been worn again. So I knew whatever I wore to this funeral was probably going to sit in my closet, completely unworn after Saturday.

Luckily I got a package that weekend from Gwynnie Bee. At first I wasn’t going to open it because I had no interest in looking cute. But I did finally open it just to take my mind of the sadness of the time. And what did I find? An adorable dress with sleeves, a modest cut, and a beautiful black and white pattern. I had forgotten that I added anything so sedate to my closet, but I’m so glad I did.

I apologize for the side eye. I was at the funeral home and trying to keep an eye on who was looking for me. It was a busy day.

I got to wear something lovely and comfortable for the service, which I also sang for. And the best part? I can send it back this week and never have to worry about it hanging unused in my closet.

Thank you Gwynnie Bee. You made a very difficult time a little easier for me. And I looked great….. even with eyeliner running down my face.

I am so sorry Cathy. I am a terrible friend who is way to wrapped up in work, I had no idea. I love you dearly and I am glad that you found something to save the day. If you need anything let me know.

    • Awww honey, you are not a terrible friend at all! Thank you for the love xoxo

Cathy, so sorry to hear about your loss. However, I am happy that the stars aligned and you received a Gwynnie Bee dress that worked perfectly for the occasion that no one wants to plan an outfit for. Our thoughts are with you and your family. -The Gwynnie Bee team
